If you’re reading this, I’m sure you’re over the moon about your recent engagement, and can’t wait to get you and your honey in front of the camera for your engagement session! But, you might also be feeling a little nervous and overwhelmed by it all. You may be thinking: What do I wear for my engagement session? Where should we go? What if I don’t know how to pose?
It is completely normal to feel a little stressed by it all, but that is why I’m here! As a wedding photographer with over 14 years of experience, I have found some of the BEST spots for engagement sessions, know the ins and outs of making a couple feel comfortable in front of the camera, and have developed an eye for what will look good on camera.
I’m going to give you the skinny on all things engagement session, but in this post we’re going to address what to wear.
I wanted to make it easy for my clients to find outfits that they feel comfortable and confident in, and look great on camera. That’s why I created an Amazon board with links to direct products so my clients can find real life options in one convenient space. I included a variety of styles, colors, and fashions to appeal to a wide audience so you’re sure to find something you love (I even have a board for the guys ;)).
But, let’s breakdown a few option/style ideas for your engagement session!
1. A Mid-thigh Dress

This adorable ruffle dress is one of my favorite engagement outfits to date. The keyhole back makes it the perfect statement piece and the v-neck is the perfect amount of coverage while highlighting your curves. Pair it with a cute pair of boots and some gold hoops and you have your entire outfit!

To give another example, I love this baggy sleeve romper that gives the illusion of a dress while offering the coverage and comfort of shorts. It comes in a variety of colors and patterns, and would pair perfectly with a cute hat and wedges or boots!
2. A Skirt + Sweater Combo

I love this combination because it adds some dimension to your outfit from the flowy skirt to the textured sweater. And, a velvet blazer for the gentlemen completes the look for a romantic, cohesive combination.
3. A Fun Jumpsuit

This is for my girls who aren’t afraid to stand out and be a little different! I love the look of a sleek jumpsuit to give you the wow factor you’re looking for from your engagement session.
4. A Long, Flowy Dress

A flowy, maxi dress is one of the easiest outfits to use in an engagement session. Look for one that has a little texture like this lace maxi dress or this ruffle wrap dress.
